Euroforest s.r.l. was established in
1995 thanks to the growing experience of 3 generations
of the Cateni family concerning the wood and furniture
business.
The first ten years of business were focused mainly on the import of
American black walnut logs and lumber. Besides importing lumber from
the best sawmills in America , our own “ Italian”
production starts to come along allowing Euroforest to export in large
quantities it’s own lumber to China , Japan and Hong Kong.
Knowing that the Italian market and more in general the western market
, is continously evolving to the research of semifinished products we
have adapted gradually and this has brought us to move from the lumber
field to the solid edge glued panel field.The edge glued panel is the
right compromise between the will to supply quality products and the
necessity to increase our productivity and competitivness reducing
labor costs, also it has variuos uses in the furniture field, window
and door frames, packaging and home building. The edge glued panel
represents now more than 60% of our business and with no doubt
it’s importance will grow in the coming months , mainly thanks to
the creation of aimed commercial wires and the enlargement of the
available essence range. Our edge glued panels allow high savings
thanks to the scale economy and to the massive production in countries
were the labour costs are low. It is not only a price matter. Our
panels assure high security concerning quality and stability. Our
panels must be tested for humidity , quality and compliance of the
glues, and finally for sanding quality. The Italian tradition of
handmade furniture , that is very important for us, has driven us to
specialize in measurements that are the most adapt to produce this kind
of furniture. The essence for excellance with which we produce the
handcraft furniture is Walnut. In our continous research of new
essences all around the world we have spotted in the Northern regions
of the USA a variety of Walnut tree of the same botanical family of the
national Walnut. This Walnut , called Butternut, has immediately become
our specialty and strength , as a solid panel but also as lumber.
Besides Butternut, whose cost makes it prohibitive for the production
of domestic appliances or furniture of a more economical range, we
recommend poplar edge glued panels and paulownia edge glued panels.
Paulownia is almost unknown by our carpenters, but in Japan it can
boast a working tradition that goes back for many centuries. The use of
Paulownia in Italy is often linked to it’s convenient price. This
reason althougth doesn’t keep in mind that this wood has many
techical features that are almost unique, above all, it’s
lightness and it’s incredibile dimentional stability.
The future of Euroforest s.r.l. is strongly linked to
the panel , whose assortment will extend thanks to the
necessity of new essences and the production of special
products for specific uses.
